Erna Winters has a long career in the public library sector. Starting of as a young child of 10 years old, helping the librarian in her hometown, she got ‘infected’ with the
library virus. After secondary school she went to the Higher Vocational Library School
(Library Academy) to become a librarian in public libraries. She’s followed the path of assistant-librarian, head-librarian, director of a library in a small town and finally as director of a merged library and center of the arts serving 4 municipalities, 17 branches serving 265.000 inhabitants. After nearly 40 years in public libraries she changed position to become networkmanager for the public libraries at the KB
National Library of the Netherlands in 2024. Here she is responsible for steering on cooperation in the network of public libraries together with the governments on the
goals formulated in the covenant and networkagenda. In 2024 she was elected as president of the Executive Board of EBLIDA.
