“Spaces of Knowledge and Memory: Redefining the image of libraries, archives, and museums in a changing world”

Welcome to the annual Conference of the Association of Greek Librarians & Information Scientists, which this year is being organized in collaboration with the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation and will take place from April 22 to 24, 2026.

This year’s theme, “Spaces of Knowledge and Memory: Redefining the image of libraries, archives, and museums in a changing world,” highlights the critical importance of information spaces in preserving and transmitting knowledge and memory in a constantly evolving society. The conference is aimed at professionals from all types of libraries and provides a forum for discussion on the development and challenges of our field today.

Piraeus, as the largest and most important port in Greece, is a place where cultural heritage meets the contemporary pulse of the city. The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, with its historical and cultural footprint in Piraeus, hosts and promotes activities that honor this heritage, making it the ideal setting for a discussion about spaces of knowledge and memory.

In this city where the past meets the vibrancy of everyday life, the conference aims to promote the highlighting and interconnection of cultural and educational resources, strengthening the role of libraries, archives, and museums as foundations for cultural development and social cohesion.

We invite you to participate in this year’s conference, which, starting from the city of Piraeus, marks a special moment for the field of information in Greece, connecting knowledge with cultural heritage and opening new horizons for the future of libraries and cultural institutions in our changing world.

Why participate in the conference?

The reasons that urge:

You are experts! Share knowledge, experiences and skills. Each library is unique. It has to present not only the best practices and success stories. Initiatives that have not worked may work better elsewhere. But they certainly give lessons to avoid or improve! Share what works (and what doesn’t) in your library.
